Basics: Michigan State University is a public research university in East Lansing, Michigan. It frequently ranks among the top 30 public universities in the United States. The university is part pf the Association of American Universities, an organization of 62 leading research universities in North America.
Academics: MSU pioneered the studies of packaging, hospitality business, plant biology, supply chain management, music therapy, and communication sciences. This Big Ten university’s motto is “Advancing Knowledge, Transforming Lives.”
Demographics: MSU is the eighth-largest university in the United States in terms of enrollment. Out of the 50,000 students, 39,000 of them are undergraduates while the remaining 11,000 are postgraduates. The suburban campus of the university is of 10,000 acres.
Collegiate Sports: MSU’s 25 Division I sports teams are called the Spartans, which compete in the Big Ten conference. Their mascot is a Spartan warrior called Sparty. The university colors are Green and White. Football especially has a long tradition at MSU. In fact, MSU’s football team won its most recent Rose Bowl in 2014.
Student Life: The student life at Michigan State University, USA is amazing. East Lansing is a college town where a majority of the population living is between the ages of 15 and 24. The university’s Greek community has over 3,000 members. The Associated Students of Michigan State University is the undergrad student government of MSU. Other than the student government, there over 550 registered student-run organizations on campus.
