As a part of our ongoing commitment to keep our community stakeholders (students/parents/school heads/educators) engaged, we are introducing UCONNECT – The Education Newsletter to provide thought-provoking content that delves into college journeys, emerging career trends, global developments, the transformative power of education, and much more. UC is looking for a driven Editorial Project Manager for UCONNECT – The Education Newsletter. Your job is to make UCONNECT an aspirational newsletter that attracts the best minds in the education industry.

The role is all-encompassing as it will involve brand positioning, writing acumen, and outreach strategizing.

Job Description:

  • The key role of the Editorial Project Manager is to maintain the newsletter standard with the quality of all articles and ensure the success of the newsletter at all other parameters.
  • The manager reviews the content of each issue and makes sure it is free of copy errors or inappropriate content.
  • You will contribute written pieces to the newsletter periodically—either as full articles or as introductory editorial pieces that serve as a prologue to the issue’s content.
  • An ideal candidate understands the best email marketing practices and can keep up with digital marketing trends.
  • You will work closely with our in-house graphic designers and the management to choose the layout, colors, and overall design of every edition of the newsletter.
  • Have an understanding of monetizing certain sections of the newsletter.
  • Other tasks might include deciding which stories would be featured in our newsletters and assigning topics to writers accordingly.

Outreach:

  • Edit and proofread newsletters for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and style
  • Manage a team of writers to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Plan email marketing campaigns and oversee their execution
  • Provide suggestions for improvements
  • Collaborate with marketing and graphic design teams on new newsletter deliverables
  • Maintain an up-to-date list of subscribers
  • Write articles when necessary
  • Organize layout and select photos and graphics for newsletters

Must Haves:

  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
  • Must enjoy editing, ideating and have the ability to adapt to our style guidelines
  • In-depth understanding of the higher education sector with a strong hold on some audience engagement strategies
  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a college of repute.

Recommended

  • This position does not require prior editorial experience, although if you have managed a college newsletter or have prior writing experience, it would be valuable.
  • Having a start-up mindset to grow this project is strongly recommended.

Job Selection:

  1. Complete the Pre-screening Google Form. This is mandatory.
  2. Shortlisted candidates will be asked for a sample of their writing and called for an online interview.
  3. You may be asked for 2-3 references as part of selection process.
